Programs
The Cameroon Development Fund supports Cameroon’s communities and civil society by making grants in two program areas:
• Extractive Industries •
The extractive industries refer to the oil, mining and natural gas industries. Many African countries are dependent upon oil, mining and natural gas for a large portion of their government budget and GDP. Paradoxically, the African countries rich in natural resources have lower levels of economic growth and human development and higher levels of corruption than their resource-poor neighbors. Communities hosting oil and mining projects suffer from the projects’ negative impacts including pollution, loss of land, and price inflation. This phenomenon has been named the ‘resource curse’.
Cameroon Development Fund provides grants to Cameroonian civil society organizations working to promote transparency, economic and human development within the oil and mining industries.

• Education and Youth Empowerment •
50% of the Cameroonian population is under the age of 18 and thus an enormous need to educate and empower youth. 30% of Cameroon’s working-age population is unemployed and many more are underemployed. Corruption and economic stagnation have weakened Cameroon’s education and business sectors. Many Cameroonian youth are losing hope in the future of their country.
The Cameroon Development Fund provides grants to organizations working to empower, enhance education, provide scholarships and job training for youth.
